"本片讲述了两个富商打赌，关于金钱是否可以让一个罪犯改头换面，而贫穷是否让人犯罪。并找到两人做试验。二人的命运随即发生了剧变。影片中关于Bunny故事的妙语""...and she stepped on the ball""其实早已在1958年的影片Auntie Mame里出现过。和本片打赌类似的是1935年的影片Hoi Polloi，两个富豪争论什么可能性更难：生育还是抚养。随后他们从街上找来一个乞丐做试验。Frank Oz 在本片中饰演了和他在The Blues Brothers 里一样的角色，该片也是由John Landis执导。影片里并未使用Rosenbach博物馆和图书馆，而是使用了一个有着相同建筑结构的私人楼房。在影片拍摄期间，DeLancey宫殿专门为此关闭了几天。Denholm Elliot是唯一一个参观过Rosenbach博物馆的演员。博物馆的所有员工都得到了一件宾夕法尼亚州电影协会的T恤。"
