温文尔雅的英国人迈克尔-费尔盖特在纽约的一家拍卖行工作，他天生幽默风趣，拍卖时妙语连珠，致使拍卖行的
生意格外红火。就在事业如*中天之时，迈克尔觉得自己的恋爱也到了开花结果的时候了，于是他鼓起勇气向女
友吉娜求婚，但让迈克尔感到意外的是，吉娜承认自己非常爱他，但却声明决不与他结婚。
满头雾水的迈克尔一路追踪来到吉娜父亲弗兰克开的意大利餐馆，在这里看到了一群神秘的美籍意大利人，
其中一个名叫维托叔叔的人受到格外尊敬。原来风度翩翩的弗兰克是黑手党的一个小头目，而吉娜不希望自己所
爱的人因此卷入麻烦。
为了赢得心爱的女人，迈克尔向吉娜允诺决不与黑帮同流合污，但很快他就发现自己根本无法摆脱黑帮的骚
