[color=]      当人类首次向火星进军的载人太空飞行遭遇了神秘的、灾难性的事故时，一支太空救援队出发前去调查这一悲剧性事件，并且要救回任何可能的幸存者……

[color=]【相关评论】：有美国太空总署NASA全程谘询参与，《火星任务》完全是写实科幻片拍法，也就是未来星际任务中还没发生过的情节，根据目前太空科学的研究、推测与模拟做基准，创作出写实的细节，再包装虚构故事。

[color=]　　布莱恩狄帕玛显然有意向已故导演斯坦利库布里克的科幻片经典《2001太空漫游》致敬，库布里克当年以360度环绕太空舱内部的画面，在《火星任务》中更被发扬光大，片中登陆火星的太空梭外观与内部场景，都根据NASA准备未来登路火星的理论设计，狄帕玛有一场用一镜到底的拍法，带观众用仰俯以及环绕角度看太空舱内部的精密仪器和陈设，画面十分震撼。

[color=]　　《火星任务》某些部份会让人联想到《阿波罗13号》、《世界末*》、《接触未来》，甚至《神鬼传奇》，不过比这些影片更见科学智慧、人类感情，以及地球与其它星球之间关系引发出的省思。从《火星任务》、《红色星球》到詹姆斯卡梅隆拍摄中火星题材的剧情短片、(因为要用超大银幕放映，片长不能太长)，千禧年的好莱坞电影正引爆一股火星热潮，也可以预见人类进入21世纪，对火星的探索和接触将更为频繁。

[color=]　　蒂姆罗宾斯、加里辛尼斯、和刚拿到金球奖电视影片类最佳男主角的黑人男星唐契德，是《火星任务》中三位太空人男主角，蒂姆罗宾斯在救援行动途中，意外跌进外太空，为了爱妻子而在太空中脱掉头罩自戕的一场戏，脸部因缺氧受压而变色破裂，会成为太空电影的经典画面。
